About Us

The Central Mountain Training Region (CMTR) was created to address many of the training and logistical needs of the region. Over 42 agencies are served by CMTR in the 7 county area of:
  • Chaffee
  • Custer
  • El Paso
  • Fremont
  • Park
  • Pueblo
  • Teller

These agencies have a combined total of 3,000 certified law enforcement officers serving a population of 759,369 people.

Administration

CMTR is administered by a board of elected officers from those agencies, tasked with overseeing and coordinating the region's training activities. By combining the limited resources of all the agencies, CMTR became more flexible in training officers. The organization was also able to provide better services, share resources, prevent duplication of training efforts and combine efforts to seek and obtain additional funding to support agencies in the area and in the state. Through this collaborative effort, CMTR has become much more efficient and effective in not only providing better quality training at a lesser cost, but also improved emergency services to the communities which they serve.

Serving Our Communities

Our goal is to improved the quality of services we provide and to enhance the corporation among first responders in order to better serve our respective communities.
